Ferme Ametzalde
Sébastien and Fabien welcome you to their small organic farm on the Munho mountain above Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, 3km from the walled city, to taste their pure ewe's milk cheese.
The farm is run using organic farming methods. Our flock of 200 red-headed Manex ewes produces milk from December to June. They go out as soon as the weather permits to guarantee good-quality milk. All fodder consumed is produced exclusively on the farm's natural meadows, and all that nature has to offer is put to good use: acorns, chestnuts, fruit, etc. From late spring through to autumn, the animals are driven to the nearby summer pastures on the Munhoa mountain. From July to September, tours of the farm are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at 3pm, by prior arrangement.
