This itinerary goes through a wild valley only occupied in summer by herds of cows and horses. After an ascent in the forest and a crossing of the pastures, the ascent of the pass at 2140 m punctuates this hike by a superb panorama on the mountains of the valley of Aspe.
Reach Pau (Pyrénées Atlantiques), follow signs for Zaragoza as far as Gan, then take the D934 towards Laruns, Gourette, Spain (Col du Pourtalet), Col d'Aubisque. After passing through Laruns, follow signs for Spain. About 10 kms after passing Les Eaux-Chaudes, turn right onto a track, direction Lac de Bious-Artigues. Park at the Bious-Oumette parking area.
