Fromagerie Balaka

The BALAKA cheese dairy is located in Esquiüle, in the heart of the Basque country. It matures and sells farmhouse cheeses made from Ossau Iraty sheep. These cheeses benefit from a controlled designation of origin. They come directly from the shepherds who make them in the Basque country and the mountains of Béarn.

We also refine and sell goat cheeses.

One of the partners, Pierre, a shepherd near Saint Jean Pied de Port, has been producing Ossau Iraty ewe's milk cheeses for 15 years. The second, Joanes, was a cheese technician with AOP Ossau Iraty.
