Maison de la Châtaigne basque
Located in Mauléon, La maison de la châtaigne basque is a place dedicated to the chestnut tree and its fruit, the sweet chestnut: from its history to its economy and processing.
To better understand the different stages of chestnut processing, you can visit our production workshops, the drying room and the mill.
There's also an exhibition retracing the history of chestnuts in the Basque country and around the world.
At the end of the visit, you'll be offered a small tasting session, and you'll be able to find all our products in the store.
As the seasons go by, you'll get a better understanding of the world of chestnuts by taking a stroll through the chestnut groves, and attending harvesting, scraping and peeling workshops.
Chestnut brunches and tastings are also available (reservation required).
