L'Estaminet
In Monein, a village in the heart of the Jurançon ‘appellation contrôlée’ region, the restaurant dominates the central square. There is a great view of the covered market from its terrace and it is only a stone’s throw from the church of St.Girons, a historic monument with an amazing roof structure.
The Estaminet has been a renowned family institution for over 20 years and offers traditional recipes featuring regional specialities such as foie gras, duck confit and ‘magret’ or duck breast. The traditional peasant soup from the region ‘garbure’ is a speciality and is made to a secret recipe by the chef. The restaurant comes into its own in the summer when you can eat on the terrace whilst admiring the 19th century architecture of the neighbouring covered market.
