Sortie Natura 2000 LARRUN-XOLDOKOGAINA - Forêt d'Urrugne: histoire, gestion forestière et biodiversité

The outing begins with a visit to an old forest nursery, a testimony to past silvicultural practices. This will be an opportunity to discuss the history of local forest management and the changing uses of wood on the Urrugne massif.

We will then visit an area where the Urrugne commune's natural environment team has trained young pollarded trees. The staff will present their approach, the techniques used and the objectives pursued, in terms of both landscape and biodiversity.

This initiative is part of a drive to capitalize on the knowledge acquired through studies carried out on the massif, and to translate this knowledge into concrete action in the field, through management practices that benefit living organisms.
