Saison culturelle - Bezperan - Collectif Bilaka

Bezperan is the fruit of lengthy discussions between director Daniel San Pedro and the performers of the Basque collective Bilaka. Bilaka?s universe is multidisciplinary, based on the reinterpretation of traditional dance and musical practices.

This new piece brings together a group of four musicians and eight dancers - as is the case in most traditional Basque dances. While the collective draws on repertory dances such as stick dances (Makil dantza) and ribbon dances (Zinta dantza), it also draws inspiration from the raw, wild energy deployed by Nijinsky in The Rite of Spring.

Bezperan celebrates the return of spring and tells the story of the men and women on the heights of Behorlegi who, one winter's evening, talk to the bees and implore the earth to awaken nature.
