Le printemps des cimetières : Cimetères protestant et catholique
Visit proposed by the Pays d?art et d?histoire Pyrénées béarnaises with a guide.
The village of Osse-en-Aspe, built on the upper terrace of the Gave d'Aspe, is known as one of the bastions of Béarn Protestantism. The Reformed Church, nicknamed "the mountain", is one of the rare examples of peaceful cohabitation. Catholics and Protestants lived side by side in this commune, as evidenced by the church of Saint-Étienne and the Temple de Béthel. But what about the cemeteries? Today's Temple garden served as the Protestant cemetery, while St. Stephen's was surrounded by the Catholic cemetery.
