Faced with the growing and evolving challenges of the coastline, the Basque Coast Scientific Interest Group (GIS) draws on the expertise of local researchers to meet the needs of Basque public administrations.

This event offers an opportunity to discover how this initiative promotes the generation and sharing of knowledge to support public policies on various topics related to water quality, coastal risks, biodiversity, and floating debris.

Using the example of Ostreopsis, a toxic microalga recently found on the Basque coast, the Ostreobila research program illustrates the joint mobilization of research and public institutions.

Health and environmental challenges, monitoring systems, and the concrete contributions of research to public decision-making will be presented.
