Le poète Basque
A comedy by Raymond Poisson from 1668. A theatrical, musical, and dance performance, staged and performed outdoors on site by the Maison Hunard troupe. A family-friendly adventure celebrating the house’s tercentenary.
A Basque poet, a native of Biscay, is in Paris to sell his plays to the illustrious troupe of actors at
the Hôtel de Bourgogne, led by Monsieur de Floridor. He is accompanied by his apprentice
Godenesche, whose talent is still in its infancy, and his valet named Bidache, a man of few words but
a fine dancer. You’ll also encounter a Gascon baron who’s in love with the theater… and actresses. The confrontation turns out to be both farcical and explosive…
