La Maison Tellier isn’t just a short story by Maupassant—it’s also the name of a French band formed in 2004. Originally a duo featuring brothers Raoul and Helmut Tellier—musicians passionate about country, folk, and blues—it later became a full-fledged band with Leopold on trumpet, bassist Alphonse, and drummer Jeff. Their influences include Calexico, 16 Horsepower, Bonnie Prince Billy, and Devendra Banhart. A blend of vintage flavors and modern textures, pop and rock, the Old World and the New World.
Helmut and his crew continue to explore the unfathomable beauty of being alive, the unbridled joy of never having failed to keep their promise: to make the music they love, and to love the music they make. It’s all in the title of their eighth album, *Timidité des Arbres*: an album celebrating their love of folk music.
