Hommage à Niko Etchart

Niko Etxart (Altz%FCr%FCk%FC, 1953) has been a fixture on the Basque music scene for more than five decades. A guitarist, singer, and composer from Soule, he has composed folk songs, rock & roll, and music for pastoral plays throughout his long career.

At a time when Franco’s dictatorship was still in full force, he was the one who introduced rock & roll to the Basque Country. Etxart thus played an important role in promoting the Basque language and culture, collaborating with numerous musicians and blending tradition with outside influences.

In addition to exploring Niko Etxart’s discography, the program will feature popular songs from Soule. Expect a high-quality rock-blues atmosphere, complete with a cappella and folk segments.
