Henrichemont is located in northern Berry. At first glance, it appears to be a small town like thousands of others in our countryside.

Yet it is unique. Founded by Maximilien de Béthune, Duke of Sully, the first stone was laid on April 13, 1609. Its name pays homage to King Henry IV, and it was Salomon de Brosse—the architect of the Palais du Luxembourg in Paris—who designed its buildings. Finally, as the capital of the former sovereign principality of Boisbelle, it is also one of only three cities in France built in the 17th century according to the principle of the “ideal city.”

Henrichemont, a town waiting to be discovered.
