Exposition d'Ospitalea "Mitologia, sur les chemins des légendes basques"

Although Basque mythology has aroused keen scientific and literary interest since the 19th century, the state of recent research remains largely inaccessible to the general public. At the same time, the oral tradition that once ensured the vitality of these tales and legends has gradually weakened. Against this backdrop, the exhibition has a dual ambition: to highlight current scientific advances, and to share the heritage handed down over the centuries by the storytellers, collectors and artists who have carried, and still carry today, the voice of these founding tales. And so, in 2026, CDEP will be staging an exhibition devoted entirely to Basque mythology. Thanks to the participation of specialist researchers and the support of partner institutions, the exhibition will offer a fresh scientific perspective.
