Aas is the only village in continental Europe where the use of a whistled language has been documented. From an unknown time until the second half of the 20th century, its inhabitants were able to communicate over great distances using whistled modulations.

The lecture, illustrated by a number of whistled messages, will explain how this highly original form of communication worked, and how it has been revived and taught, notably at the Laruns secondary school, where it disappeared in 1999.
