Balade et pelote basque

After a lovely hike through the hills above Ostabat, you’ll take part in an introductory session on Basque pelota at the village’s fronton. Much more than just a sport, it’s a true tradition deeply rooted in the local culture. As your guide explains, you’ll be introduced to the different disciplines of this iconic sport and traditional games: bare-handed (the ball is hit directly with the hands), pala (a wooden racket), and finally, chistera (a wicker basket attached to a leather glove). Level: easy. Elevation gain: +150 m. Minimum age: 6 years. Participants must be in reasonable physical condition for hiking in the mountains. Equipment to bring: Backpack, water, sports clothing, shoes with treaded soles (sneakers), windbreaker.
