Oratoires de Sare

There are fourteen oratories in the municipality of Sare, five of which are located on the galzada (medieval road) near the centre of the village. They were built according to tradition in the 17th century, following the wishes of the fishermen of Sare.

An oratory is a small religious monument dedicated to the cult of a saint.

Sare is the Basque village with the most religious buildings.
