Musée Bonnat-Helleu

The Musée Bonnat-Helleu is Bayonne's fine arts museum. Its collection has been described as "the finest collection between Paris and Madrid" by Pierre Rosenberg, Honorary President and Director of the Musée du Louvre. It houses works by the greatest European artists (Rubens, El Greco, Van Dyck, Ingres, Degas, Bonnat...), as well as one of the richest graphic arts cabinets in the world (Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Dürer, Rembrandt, Poussin, Watteau...).

After lengthy restructuring and modernization work, the museum reopened its doors on November 27, 2025.

Come and discover its collections, with over 1,000 works on display.

The museum seeks to inspire curiosity, pleasure and understanding of the arts by collecting, conserving, exhibiting and interpreting works of art of exceptional quality and historical significance, for the benefit of all.
