This loop crosses the heart of the Basque country through small typical county towns! This itinerary, full of contrasts, shares valley bottoms and balcony sections as well as small communal roads and beautiful asphalt roads. A bit like the Way of Saint James.
From Pau, take the A64 towards Bayonne. Exit at junction 7 Pamplona-Salies. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the D430, cross Salies-de-Béarn and take the D933 towards Sauveterre-de-Béarn. Continue on the D933 to the D11 junction at the entrance to Saint-Palais. From Bayonne, take the A63 towards Biarritz. Take exit 5.1 towards A64, Pau. Leave the A64 at exit 4 Saint-Palais. Follow Bidache on the D936, then on the D11.
