De Lourdes à Pau Velo Fest 2025

Still in the company of the gave de Pau, the route ensures the link between Béarn and Bigorre, from Pau to Lourdes. After about ten kilometres along the river on a path dedicated to two-wheelers, the V81 takes small roads and greenways to take advantage of the assets of the plain of Nay.

From Lourdes to Pau, the route descends along the Gave de Pau, from Bigorre to Béarn.

After a few bumps on the outskirts of Lourdes, village houses with round pebble walls, fields and small rivers follow one another, with the Pyrenean massif always in view. The plain of Nay comes into view. You'll need to take time off your two-wheeler to visit the bastide town of Nay and its heritage assets, the village of Lestelle-Bétharram and the remarkable Bétharram caves.

It's easy to get to the city of Pau, as you'll start by strolling along a dozen kilometers of riverside country roads, dedicated to walking and cycling.

How to get there

From exit 10 of the A64 motorway, follow the signs for the train station into the historic center of Pau. Park nearby (avenue Jean Biray ? Hôtel de Département) and head up to boulevard des Pyrénées and place Royale (funicular access).
You can also reach Pau by train, thanks to the TER network (bicycles allowed).
