N°88 Camp de César

Climb up to Caesar's Camp, walk around the ramparts, and all that's left to do is imagine Obelix appearing with a few wild boars under his arm. Between trails and winding paths, the murmur of the Bélandre and the fluttery song of the Loriot d'Europe accompany this stroll.

Climb up to Caesar's Camp, walk around the ramparts, and all that's left to do is imagine Obelix appearing with a few wild boars under his arm. Between trails and winding paths, the murmur of the Bélandre and the fluttery song of the Loriot d?Europe accompany this stroll. And for those with a sweet tooth, there are wild strawberries to be gleaned along the way! The ascent to the camp takes place in two stages, on paths lined with columbines. Once on the ridge, the Soum des Paloumères, just follow the path to the camp.

How to get there

From Oloron Sainte-Marie, take the Zaragoza bypass, then follow signs for Arette (D919). Drive approximately 1 km past the Oloron Sainte-Marie exit sign. Leave the road just after a small stone bridge, on a track to the left (signposted "Forêt communale de Saint Pée de Haut"). The parking lot and starting point are 150m further on.
