Buluntza

Buluntza is an aesthetic itinerary that travels between two passes. A pleasant track allows you to admire the Laurhibar valley and then the Estérenguibel valley after reaching the Buluntza pass. Enjoy the curiosities of this place (dolmen and sandstone blocks). A ridge line closes the route.

Between the valleys of the Laurhibar and the Estérenguibel, Buluntza is an easy and aesthetic itinerary that goes between two passes. A pleasant track, on the slope overlooking the Laurhibar, allows us to admire this valley and the western part of the Arbailles massif. The Buluntza pass and its dolmen are reached after a short climb. From this pass, the view extends to the Estérenguibel side with the Iraty forest, the Okabe, Errozate and Urkulu peaks in the background. The loop ends by following a ridge line with a gentle relief, after walking through a chaos of sandstone blocks.

How to get there

From the Hôtel du Fronton, take the D18 towards the Iraty forest. At the entrance to Mendive, take the second road on the right towards the public school. After the bridge over the Laurhibar, turn left, then right towards Estérençuby. At the end of the forest, turn right at km 3.3 and right again at km 4.1. The Col de Bilgoza, the start of the hike, is 200 m further on. Park on the right, along the fence (be careful not to block access to the meadows).
