Bidegaraia

Starting from the Celhay district of Hasparren, this loop hike including the ascent of Ursuia is certainly one of the most representative of the region: an imposing panorama on the mountains and the Atlantic coast, and a remarkable natural, human and historical heritage.

Head for THE mountain of Hasparren, the Ursuia, for an attractive loop hike starting from the Celhay district. You will quickly gain height on easy paths, leaving you free to observe the many houses of traditional architecture that dot the green hills just cleared of the night mists. The sun warms the chestnut or piebald coat of the many pottoks that walk the mountain, and gives the hiker hope for the panorama that awaits him at the top. For this is the main argument of the Ursuia, a remarkable tour of the horizon, from the still snow-covered peaks of the Hautes-Pyrénées to the forest of the Landes, with the great names of the Basque summits all present to welcome you. The return journey via the heights of Macaye, Mendionde and the remains of the Napoleon road will finally bring a touch of heritage to this unforgettable hike.
