Belekarre
A hike accessible to all on the foothills of Mount Eltzarruze, in the Arbéroue valley. Ideal to complement a visit to the caves of Oxocelhaya, to enjoy the "airy" stratum of the limestone massif, the green countryside and its generous surface vegetation.
The Arbéroue valley, upstream from Hasparren, enjoys peaceful days away from the main traffic routes. Saint-Esteben and Saint-Martin-d'Arbéroue share the upper valley, as do the paths of the day's walk. A hike accessible to all on the foothills of Mount Eltzarruze, where you will take just the right amount of height to appreciate a landscape of hedgerows that only mountainous regions can still preserve. Green meadows, dark groves and white-walled hamlets form a mosaic that is full of Basque atmosphere. The roadside vegetation is varied (hawthorns, chestnut trees, pollarded oaks, locust trees, ferns), and the soil is undoubtedly limestone and karstic (outcropping lapiaz, sinkhole, resurgence).
