Balade communale Donamartiri
Saint-Martin d'Arberoue ? Donamartiri, a village in the Bas-Navar region with a population of 320, invites you to discover its history and heritage. The tour will take you to the old village square, when the village was still called Saint-Martin de Belhoritz. A former barony, the village still boasts some magnificent Basque houses, some of which date back to 1435, when 24 of them were ennobled around the "Palacio", now in ruins. This castle, seat of the Court of Navarre, welcomed Marshal Soult during the Napoleonic Wars and Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie in 1867, who came to visit the Isturitz and Oxocelhaya caves, listed as Historic Monuments.
