Forêt des Arbailles

The Forêt des Arbailles is a forest massif in the Basque Country, covering some 4,535 hectares in the provinces of Soule and Basse-Navarre.

Although the Arbailles forest is now relatively accessible thanks to a number of trails, it is still a largely untamed natural area where off-trail activities can be dangerous due to the numerous chasms.

How to get there

From Mauléon, take the D918 towards Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
Pass Garindein then turn right onto the D147 to Aussurucq. Go through Aussurucq towards Ahusquy. 2 km after the village, at the first bend in the road, you enter the Arbailles forest.
