Réserve Naturelle d'Errota Handia
The Etang d'Errota Handia "big mill" in Arcangues, together with the various habitats of meadows and associated forest environments, forms a remarkable ecological ensemble, a privileged reception area for many plant and animal species, including many birds, insects, amphibians and mammals, including the very rare and endangered European mink. Classified area of 9 hectares since 15/12/2008
There are 19 different habitats, sheltering 250 plant species and 274 animal species, including 140 species of birds: the Mountain Grebe, the Booted Eagle, the Reed Harrier, the Osprey..
The site is a major reception area for a large number of odonate species (38 species recorded to date, including the Mercury borer) and diurnal lepidoptera (50 species).
