Pelouses sèches à orchidées du coteau de Lembeye
From mid-April to the end of June, wild orchids are scattered on the hillsides of Vic-Bilh, in the Madiran vineyard! These dry grasslands with orchids represent a surface of 250 ha, on a site classified Natura 2000, including Lespielle. These remarkable environments include many species of orchids. In addition to their ecological interest, these grasslands offer a unique Mediterranean landscape not very frequent in the South-West of France. Intimately linked to agriculture, these environments owe their existence to the clearing of land and traditional grazing.
In Lespielle, discover two orchid plots. The departure is from the Bellegarde mill, with a starting sign, then the route takes you to the two plots with signs on the fauna and flora of these lawns. A detailed brochure is available at the tourist office.
